2021 Hyundai Nexo Air Filter in Albuquerque, NM

The 2021 Hyundai NEXO powertrain intake air filter sits in the engine bay within a sealed airbox ahead of the 0NAH fuel-cell power unit.

This sealed housing draws outside air through the filter before it reaches the NEXO’s intake system, protecting sensitive components. Our Albuquerque service team accesses it from under the hood, checks the housing for debris, and ensures proper sealing to prevent dust intrusion common in Central New Mexico.

• Located in the engine bay within a rectangular airbox
• Upstream of the intake ducting for the 0NAH system
• Housing seal inspected to block desert dust and pollen

The 2021 Hyundai NEXO cabin air filter is typically positioned behind the glove box within the HVAC case.

Access usually requires lowering or removing the glove box to reach the rectangular filter tray. Replacing this filter helps keep interior air cleaner during Albuquerque’s windy, high-desert seasons. Our technicians also check for leaves and dust in the cowl area to maintain airflow and reduce odors.

• Behind the glove box in most configurations
• Slides out from a dedicated HVAC filter slot
• Cowl and drain areas inspected for debris buildup

The NEXOs intake air filter protects the powertrain by cleaning incoming outside air, while the cabin air filter cleans the HVAC air that you and your passengers breathe.

Both filters trap particulates, but they serve different systems. The intake filter helps protect the NEXOs fuel-cell power unit from dust and debris; the cabin filter targets pollen and fine dust inside the vehicle. Using Hyundai Genuine filters preserves fitment and filtration performance for New Mexicos dusty conditions.

• Intake filter = protects powertrain intake path
• Cabin filter = improves in-cabin air quality
• Different sizes, media, and service access points

Common signs include reduced performance, increased fan noise, weak HVAC airflow, and musty interior odors.

On the NEXO, a restricted intake filter can hamper efficiency and responsiveness, especially during dusty Albuquerque commutes or I-25 drives. A dirty cabin filter often shows up as foggy windows, uneven vent flow, or persistent smells after starting the climate control. Timely inspection helps prevent strain on the HVAC blower and intake system.

• Sluggish response or decreased efficiency
• Weak or uneven airflow through vents
• Musty or dusty smell when HVAC starts

Yesmany owners can DIY the cabin filter, while dealer service adds intake-housing checks and OEM-spec parts verification.

The NEXOs cabin filter is typically accessible after lowering the glove box; the intake filter requires opening a sealed airbox. Our Albuquerque team verifies airflow direction, reseals the housing, inspects the MAF/intake tract, and installs Hyundai Genuine filters that match factory specifications.

• Dealer verifies airbox seals and intake condition
• OEM-spec filter media for proper fit and flow

Our air filter service for the 2021 Hyundai NEXO focuses on both intake protection and cabin air quality. We begin with a visual inspection of the intake tract and airbox seals, then remove and assess the intake air filter for dust loading and damage. The cabin HVAC filter is accessed behind the glove box, removed, and evaluated for debris and odor. If replacement is needed, we install Hyundai Genuine filters, confirm proper airflow direction, and reassemble to factory fit. A final check verifies secure housings and clean seals to keep New Mexico dust out. Ready to book? Use our online schedule service tool, and review service specials before your visit.

The 2021 Hyundai NEXO uses two filters: a powertrain intake air filter in a sealed engine-bay airbox and a cabin HVAC filter located behind the glove box. We install Hyundai Genuine filters engineered for the NEXO’s intake and interior systems to preserve sealing and filtration performance in high-desert conditions. During service, our technicians verify airbox integrity, check intake ducting, and ensure the cabin filter’s airflow arrow is oriented correctly. If you drive frequently on unpaved or dusty roads around Albuquerque, expect more frequent inspections to maintain performance and air quality. Bring your 2021 Hyundai NEXO to Larry H.
